As Far As The Eye Can See

In 2016 the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre hosted As far as the eye can see an exhibition of Australian Printmakers. This exhibition became a national touring show with support from Visions of Australia Funding. The exhibition was shown at 9 venues across 5 states, vising regional galleries across NSW, South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania and Queensland. There were associated community programs with the artists and Rochelle Summerfield undertook a successful printmaking workshop with the Logan Art Gallery, QLD. Rochelle exhibited two of her Subject to Flooding series of works based on photographs she had take of the Clarence River with montage. The work was inspired by canoeing down the Orara river in Australia’s Northern New South Wales region. The photoshoot was shot thigh deep in water, with the surrounding rich, lush riparian landscapes. The female subject is ‘Lost’ in her thoughts and connection with nature. She has solitude and strength to just ‘be’ in nature and free from technology.
