Feral animals were originally brought to this landscape for colonies and domestic purposes, some were released to grow and reproduce as a food source, and others escaped. Unfortunately, most ferals have no predators and are killing our precious wildlife and causing much destruction to the natural habitat. Why should we care? Our natural landscape is suffering a lot of degradation through soil erosion, higher temperatures, droughts and bushfires. The natural environment supports our life! Our very breath, food sources, drinking water and our mental health and well-being.
The wild boar tramples the marshes and makes soil hard and cracked while killing off small native plants.
The fox, the cat, the rabbit. These are the bad villains of my series. With their different textures, and media they cast long bleak shadows across the landscape.
Incredible story there. What happened after? Thanks!
Hi, Thank you for your kind comment. I made several drawing/ paper cut out sculptures of feral animals, and shone spotlights onto them to create huge shadows as if penetrating the landscape and highlight these critters ‘being out of place’. There is some good work being done by various environmental groups that are now fencing in the native species as a way to keep out the feral animals. Seems to be working, some magical thinking outside of the box! Best R

I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it.
