Description
I travelled along the Macquarie River a 960km journey, through some amazing countryside. I particularly loved and was inspired by the area of the Macquarie Marshes, West of NSW even though I was confronted by a river with no water. West NSW was in severe drought. This drawing encompasses both the joy of being in nature and the sadness of excessive land clearing up to the rivers edge. When there is rain, water and birdlife is plentiful, with some very special birds like the Australiasian Bittern, a shy creature. Emotionally I experienced the sadness of the loss of habitat, as it’s so important to our health and well-being. Let’s love our county, and make choices that consider and restore the importance of river banks for the future of our wildlife and habitat.
