I wanted a heroine – dancing a victory dance, expressing pure joy and not caring about what anyone else thinks. Shot below my home on the muddy banks of the Clarence River, Northern New South Wales, Australia. She is wild and sensual in the beautiful dawn light and mysterious, morning mist. With painterly technique in soft pastels, I drew the red chair, heroine’s flowing skirt, carpet of flowers and a watching kingfisher. This work explores being yourself by being present ‘in’ the body and one with nature.
