THIS WORK IS SOLD to a private collector and no longer available.
I began this drawing thinking about collections, why we collect things and what is truly important to us. I began to draw an edifice, grand enough for magnificent collections. Whilst drawing and surrounded by trees, birdlife and the magnificent Clarence River, I heard suburbia’s sounds and the high pitch noise of chainsaws. I dwelt on how people plant shrubs and often cut down trees. The tree became a symbol of stoicism and beauty, something to be treasured. Cheekily, I also collaged my female protagonist as a collection of designers’ disembodied limbs from various magazines.
