Description
One day a female Green Metallic Carpenter native bee (Xylocopa (Lestis)) flew towards me, demanding to be let out of my studio. She looked like some kind of super-heroine, with her shiny bright metallic green colour, and big, huge round dark eyes and a loud jet-sounding buzz. I knew she was a girl super-heroine as the boys are a different colour. They love the Xanthorrhoea grass trees which have suffered from recent bush fires, so I felt especially blessed to see her and learn about her.
Bees are such miracle workers and so vital to a healthy environment and us! Bee diversity is important too as they pollinate different plants, gardens and food sources helping plants to keep the life cycle continuing!
