Description
I turned and felt her whisper upon my body,
And I saw her-
As she rose like a goddess
on top of her rocky outcrop
a Blackened Kurrajong Tree,
Stout, aged and swollen with trunk
She lifts her arms to the sun,
Her shiny green bell leaves echo in the soft cool breeze
Brachychiton populneus, is commonly known as the kurrajong
It is a protected tree, as it’s drought proof as its bottle like trunk stores water for survival and the leaves are edible for animal stock. It lives in a diversity of climates from wetter tropical to semi-arid areas of Victoria, NSW and Qld.
